We've had a couple of questions about the structure of U14 games, so here's a short explanation that - we hope - explains the what and the why.
At the start of the season, U14 games were set at 2 halves of 25 minutes. A decision was taken in Munster in early October to change this with immediate effect to 3 periods of 17 minutes. Only 2 periods to count towards the score of the game. The team managements are to decide which 2 periods to count - but generally expected that it will be 1st and 2nd.
The reason for the change is to ensure that all players get some game time. Coaches are expected to "empty the bench" for the non-competitive period - no player is to be left standing on the sideline.
