It’s great to see that our rugby season is back in full swing for the 2018/19 rugby season and we're sure it will be another successful one for our great club.
As all teams are back training and with only 1 pitch is available in Aghadoe it's imperative that we try to preserve the integrity of this pitch for as long as possible.
Here are some guidelines:
Try to vary the areas of the pitch that are utilized for each training session.
Please use the non-playing areas available as much as possible. (i.e behind both goals and if possible the grassed area behind the dug outs on the main field)
Please move scrums and line outs regularly to prevent excessive wear in areas of the pitch.
Vary the warm up areas each time to minimize wear and spread the wear more evenly across the pitch.
If you feel the ground is starting to cut up move to another part of the field before this happens to avoid excessive wear.
Our objective is to have the training pitch available as long as possible this season till our new pitches are ready for play.
The contractor should have all works completed next week on both the main and the mini pitch. After this we have to wait till the pitches are ready for play and can take the wear one would expect from a busy rugby club.
The progress of the development of the sward will be monitored closely and when ready we will not hesitate in utilizing all pitches to the full.
In the meantime, please try and make decisions that will allow the training pitch be as good as it can be for as long as possible this season.
Your co-operation in this regard is greatly appreciated by everyone in the club.
Yours
KRFC pitch development committee.
