The Sem made its debut in senior schools rugby with a win over St Patrick's Castleisland. The team comprising the bulk of the current Killarney RFC U18.5 panel was augmented by Kris O'Leary Sacristan and Tom Chambers - who played for Killarney RFC in last year's U18s but qualify as the age group is U19 in schools rugby.

In a day of firsts  - it was left to Gearóid Sugrue to score the Sem's first ever try in senior schools rugby. Gearóid successfully converted his try to give the Sem an early 7-0 lead.    It was close to half-time when Jack Donoghue scored the second try - converted by Shane Morrissey to push the lead to 14-0.  That remained the score at half-time..

The game remained tight until a flurry of tries in the last quarter took the Sem out of sight. First, Kris O'Leary added a try to push the lead to 19-0. Tom Chambers added a try soon after to leave St Brendan's 24-0 ahead, and Adam Lynch Herlihy wrapped things up with the fifth try of the game - converted by Gearóid Sugrue.
