Killarney Rugby Football Club is thrilled to announce the award of โฌ750,000 from the Irish government through the Large-Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund (LSSIF) to support the building of our new clubhouse. This significant funding represents a major milestone for our club and community, allowing us to create a modern, inclusive facility that will serve current and future generations of players and supporters.
The LSSIF grant program provides funding between โฌ600,000 and โฌ30 million, focusing on promoting accessibility, sustainability, and equal access to sports facilities for all. Our clubhouse project aligns with these values, aiming to reduce administrative overheads, support environmentally responsible construction, and ensure that all membersโmen and womenโhave equitable access to this new space.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, whose support has made this opportunity possible. This funding enables us to further our mission of fostering rugby at all levels and building a thriving hub for our community.
In June, a dedicated and hardworking group of club members came together to apply for the Large Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund. This application required a tremendous amount of time, detail, and effort, all on behalf of our club. Iโm thrilled to announce that our application has been successful, and we have been awarded an incredible sum of โฌ750,000 toward building our new clubhouse.
This achievement would not have been possible without the invaluable support of the IRFU, Munster Rugby, Kerry County Council, and our local representatives, who have championed our efforts. Iโd also like to express our gratitude to those who, in 2012, made the courageous decision to purchase the grounds in Aghadoe after years of moving around Killarney. This award confirms that the goals we have set for our club are achievable and resonate strongly within our local community.
