Our u16s team took the long trip to Dungarvan Rugby Club on Saturday, ending in a hard-fought victory. With a squad of just 16 and a lot of players in new positions (Lily Mae, Ciara, Emma, Brooke, Hannah in the backs and Lucy in the forwards), the girls started well, going up 17-0 early, but a lack of concentration and a few simple mistakes led to Dungarvan taking advantage and coming back into the game.
Dungarvan started the 2nd half as they finished the first, with great determination and fight and battled back to level the score, but a last push from our girls after words from their coaches TJ & Tony, found them scoring 2 late tries and converting one, to end the game 34-22. It was great to see Eibhlin get her first start with the team; Saoirse did very well too, subbing on and off with our only sub, Izzy, and Aoibheann getting a first full game. Thanks to Dungarvan RFC for a fantastic game and hospitality afterwards, and to all the parents who made the long trip over too and supported us.
