Killarney teams started the new year with a bang and completed a clean sweep in their respective competitions

Saturday 06 January

Boys U16 BoI Munster Cup - Group 3 Killarney RFC 29 Kanturk RFC 10

U16s boys went 3 for 3 in the group stage with a 29-10 point win over Kanturk. Kanturk pressed hard in the early stages and Killarney went into the break leading 7-3 with a try from Ciaran Doody converted by Cathal Sugrue.

Two tries early in the second half - a "quarter back sneak" from Paddy Moore and one from John Sexton after good hands - left Killarney in command at 19-3 ahead. Kanturk reduced the deficit to 19-10 with a converted try with 15 minutes left, but a fourth try from Sean P Fleming put Killarney back in charge. Cathal Sugrue aded a conversion and wrapped up the scoring with a 35m penalty on the final whistle.

Boys U18.5 BoI Munster Cup - Group 4 Garryowen 10 Killarney 12

In the mist and fog, Killarney battled to an impressive away win at Dooradoyle. Garryowen led 7-5 at halftime - Killarney try from Alex O'Leary. In the second half, Garryowen extended their lead witha penalty, but a converted try from Ciaran Doyle put Killarney 12-10 ahead - a lead they maintained to the end.

Boys U14 West Munster League Killarney RFC 22 Iveragh Eagles RFC 7

Tries from Shane Tomlinson, Ryan van der Merwe, Peter O'Callaghan, and James O'Brien featured as Killarney won their second consecutive game with a repeat victory over Iveragh.

Munster Junior Cup - Round 1 - Killarney 27 Waterford City 11

Killarney scored 5 tries - from Harrai Kelly, Colin McCarthy, Pierse Slattery, and 2 from Liam Randles - in a comprehensive victory in the first round of Junior Cup. Next round is away to Bruff on 28th January.
